Katharine Collins

Program Officer, Global Health R&D

Katharine joined the Global Health R&D team in May 2023. Her goal is to identify and support research and development opportunities for new tools to tackle diseases with a large global health burden. Prior to joining Open Philanthropy she was an international malaria researcher based at the University of Oxford in the UK, Queensland Medical Research Institute in Australia, and Radboud University Medical Centre in The Netherlands, with research projects based in Burkina Faso and Mali. Her research focused on the development and evaluation of malaria vaccines, development of human malaria infection models, and malaria transmission epidemiology. She holds a Ph.D in malaria vaccine development from the University of Oxford, and a Masters in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Bath.
