The Open Philanthropy Project spoke to Mr. Wagner about the potential for reform in several areas of the US criminal justice and prison system. Mr. Wagner explained that the Prison Policy Initiative produces cutting edge research to expose the broader harm of mass criminalization, and then sparks advocacy campaigns to create a more just society. We began by discussing several smaller projects that the Prison Policy Initiative has developed but has not yet raised the funds to implement.
