The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $131,579 to UC Berkeley to support the Alternative Meats Lab, housed at The Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology. The lab is the outgrowth of a class on developing animal product alternatives. This grant may help spur new startups developing alternatives to animal products, and could help build the talent pipeline for existing startups working in this space.
