The Open Philanthropy Project recommended a grant of $569,000 to Just Liberty for general support. This is a renewal of our 2016 funding recommendation to Just Liberty, and will allow the organization to continue its organizing, lobbying, and outreach activities to build support for criminal justice reform ahead of the 2019 Texas legislative session. Just Liberty intends to target many of its activities toward center-right voters, whose voices may be impactful on Republican lawmakers.

This grant was made by a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization, to which we occasionally make funding recommendations.

This grant falls within our focus area of criminal justice reform.
