Beth leads the operations efforts at the Open Philanthropy Project. Immediately before taking on this role, she was winding down operations for the Hillary for America campaign where she served as the Chief Operating Officer. Before the campaign, Beth spent six years in the Obama Administration. In her last role, as Deputy Assistant to the President and Director, Office of Administration, she set the strategic vision for and led the organization that provides business services to the Executive Office of the President. Beth joined Obama for America in 2007, working at national headquarters during the primary and general elections. Beth has a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a JD from Vanderbilt University. After graduation she clerked for a judge and practiced law at two law firms. Beth then entered the public sector, working for the Cook County Public Defender’s Office in Chicago for three years before leaving for the Obama campaign. She joined Open Phil in May 2018 and lives in Oakland with her husband, toddler, and dog.
